The view from The Mountain House.
While living apart and seeing
each other only a few times a year, we would plan long weekends
together in the Adirondacks whenever time permitted. Keene, quiet and secluded,
was where we were both able to get away, relax, and enjoy our short time
together. We’d retreat to a small bed and breakfast, run in the mountains, swim
in rivers and eat Noonmark pie. The memory of a winter’s night hike from the
Garden, a picnic dinner on Baxter Mtn., a long run in the Adirondacks, and a
swim in the cold Johns Brook were thoughts, feelings, and memories that would
carry us through the long months apart.
Hurricane Road is also along one
of Haley’s favorite road bike and roller-ski routes. When deciding upon a place to
have our ceremony, no other spot seemed to match the setting of The Mountain
House with the High Peaks and the valley below as the backdrop of our wedding.
In all the places we have traveled and lived, getting married in a place somewhere between their
hometowns and up in the mountains seemed just perfect.
We look forward to celebrating with all of you!
